I removed my Stingray emblems and I note two different types. I want to clean them up, etc. Back in the day, we always bought new emblems, as they were cheap. But now I am wondering if I should re-dress mine. Trying to figure out which one to use and how to handle paint and if possible to re-do the adhesive?
Before I do anything, can ya'll help me identify these? And if they are painted correctly? I labelled the pics ''--'' and ''2''
2: 3956216 (appears original) has a '2' over the letter N on the backside. Has shorter studs. Looks like the chrome is shinier. Note how black paint is on the sides of the letter.
--: 3945361 has nothing on the back side. Has longer studs. The paint is not as high on the sides of the letters.

There seems to be opinions about the "dot" over the "I"...(.not high on my list with a 502 under the hood).. re NCRS stuff...I'd check some restoration books like Richard Princes or others...
I just removed the emblems off my '76, both of the backsides have 3956216, One off them has "1" over the letter N ands the other has "2" over the N. Also it looks like the initials WM in the center of the G. Mines are in good shape and the background is black with the the edge being chrome...

OK 3956216 is much shinier w/black paint high on the sides of the letters. Which one was original. I like the 216 over the 3945361, if for no other reason than the glossier chrome.
Last - has anybody figured out how to re-use these emblems or can you buy a adhesive strip to put on the back?
