What happened? The more "I got hit" stories I hear, the less I want to take my car out...

There are quite a few good shops in San Diego. I've never had to use them, but I'm sure some of the "locals" will chime in pretty soon. At one time, I lived down the street from Bettencourt (Broadway & E St.). He always had some nice hot-rods in there for paint.

Well what happened was I was out cruising in Mission Beach and I was sitting at stoplight waiting for it to turn and there was a Harley behind me and he was reving his motor and he thought that we had moved since the light had turned green and teh **** smacked into the right rear quater panel. His bike got stuck under my vette and we waited there untill the cops came, luckilly there was no injury. When the officers had us move he hit another car too. It was a Chevelle and it was pretty raged but the front fender got dented.

Yeah, you can't say ****sucker, ********er, ****, ****,*****,****, or ****...

But you can say "azzwipe" when referring to Harley-poseurs.

two years ago I got hit hit while sitting at a light on in my '65. This was only 3 weeks after buying the car!
I was sitting there than the idiot in FRONT of me decided he wanted to be in the next lane over, so he puts his car in reverse, doesn't look behind him and slams into the front of my C2.
This all happened while the light was still red.

I'm glad to be here to tell you about it because I almost went to jail that day....... for murder.

He had to do something - the vette was getting all the attention

He just tried to do it all at once

Sorry for your loss - we all spend alot of time on these cars and too often people do not respect the time and effort that goes into them and then something happens

Yea I thought I was going to kill the guy when I got out But I don't think I want to go to jail for murder. He did have insurance but the azzwipe didn't write down his policy number I am going to talk to my insurance agent as soon as he opens and see what he says, hopefully good news. At least no one was hurt

Not to worry. Your insurance will cover you. Come time to be re-imbursed from his carrier, your company will give him an ultimatum...provide a valid policy or pay the bill out-of-pocket.

That sucks, I hope the repairs turn out well. I sometimes cringe when seeing people brake late when I'm stopped at a light. They would pay through the azz if they ever hit my Vette. People just don't think!

I got hit one time buy this bitch (She turned right into the side of my car as I was going through a light) and put 10K worth of damage on my car. She had the only 5k worth of collision insurence. My insurence company paid me the full amout and had to get the other 5k from the bitch out of pocket.

Hi, I feel your pain, your story bought back old memories, here it is back in 1972 and my '71 LT-1, 2 top conv and I are stopped at a traffic light, the second car back, I was on my way to work after dropping off a hunny at her work that I wanted to get to know better. So I was in a good mood and feeling fine. I glanced in my rearview mirror to see two bimbos yakking up a storm and not even looking forwards, they were busy looking at each other, I couldn't move forward but I was about 3 or 4 feet back and the light was stale, figuring my options quickly didnt help any 'cause she slammed me in the rear before I could move, the light turned just as she hit and a good thing because I was shoved forward about 6 feet, luckily the guy in front of me was paying attention and moved just as the light changed. I got out of the car really ticked off and headed back to the '70 cuda she was driving and saw her roll up the window almost all the way and lock her door. A co-worker of mine saw me standing there ranting and went to work and told the boss who called the cops thank God,, I was ready to tear the door off that 'cuda when they finally got there. Wound up with both 1/4 panels split to the doors and the tailight panel demolished as well as both rear bumpers that were pointing up at the sky, somehow the hardtop got unlatched at the windshield header, no gas tank leakage, and I was able to drive it away,, later on I noticed that the drivers side floor pan was busted loose at its forward side. Got the car fixed and then the insurance co. cancelled my policy,,,,,,,,,,sold it regrettibly soon after,,, Loved that car. Sorry for the long post. Peace,,,Moosie

P.S. the hunny wound up marrying a friend of mine.

What part of san diego? It seems the best repair shops are out in the nether regions of the county, like El Cajon and Santee. I think there's a pretty decent body shop out in Chula Vista that the tire place that caused the front fender damage on my '81 sent it to. Make sure you send it to a top notch place so you don't have nasty, noticable repair spots.

When a Vette gets body damage most shops go in to "oh $h17" mode and do everything they can to make sure you're happy. Especially when it's not your fault. Mine is getting its paint touched up today because of my local shop backing it up against a pole in their garage. I'll see how well they do and let you know how they are. It'll probably go to a place in the Miramar area.

That's a new one most of the time its the guy on the bike who gets hit or cut-off. I rode a Harley for years and gave riding just for that reason. Now I have to check my rear-view all the time and make sure no 4x4 mommy is talking on the phone and not looking down at my vette.
