i would tubb it out out and do a body drop and tuck some 20's under it and lay the frame on the ground..... then put a bumpin' audio system and prolly a blow up doll in the passenger seat so i can have a chick without all the back talk and passenger drivin'.....
and a green tree air freshener
and a cupholder for the starbucks mocha latte' jizzums with foru squirts of chocolate and whip cream.......
Those who say they're ugly or that they'd sell the C5/6 for C3 money have obviously not driven one! Having driven a C6 (parents' friend who is an old drag racer) I have to say my driving skills would have to do alot of catching up before I needed any modifications! I'm only used to my 300HP/3300lb combination, the extra 100HP and lighter weight were.... spectacular. Not to mention the handling, unbelieveable.
My ideal garage? A black '69 coupe next to a black C6Zo6

oh actually this slipped my mind, but I was just thinking about this earlier today. I would make a C5R/C6R replica, paint scheme, full cage, aero, fender louvers, suspension and all the rest.

I like the "my other car is a Vette" bumper sticker is a good one. Especially if it were a C6 Z06, I wouldn't do anything except hammer down every chance I got!
I'd have to let the little woman use it as a DD. Then I can get out alone in the 69 vert and flirt without her scoweling at all the other broads in town. Then sell it when she starts moaning about no room for kids and groceries and shoot myself. (Just kidding about the shooting)
Maybe someone should start a thread on the C5/C6 post and ask them if they got a nice C3 for free how they'd feel driving a car that actually turns heads for a change?
I really would like one as a daily driver. But if it came to mods, I think I would pull the motor and drop in my c3's 220 HP L82 4spd and bitch about having to fix it, how it runs and that I run 3500 rpm at 75 mph!
I dont think I would do a thing to it. I like the C5 just like it is, and the C6 would be a dream car. Especially in that bronze color with a tan/buckskin interior. WOW!
I don't like c5's or c6's. I do like the new zo6 however. Id take the drive train form the new zo6 and put it in my c3. Padle shifters Id also cut the fender flares of the new zo6 and mold them onto my car.
I owned an '81 as a daily driver for fun and racing. We bought a C5 for touring. The first thing I did with the C5 was get a Corsa Indy exhaust. The next thing I did was get a Blackwing filter system. The change was most impressive both in "kick" and sound. Recently, we traded in the C5 for a C6. We haven't done anything to the C6 yet. The power is incredible, The sound is just so so. I would love to get the sound I had on the C5 on the C6 but don't know if I could afford the tires. I'm thinking 18" wheel on the C3.
This brings me to the argument I have twice monthly. A lot of guys keep talking about the new mustang… my argument is why spend the money on a new mustang that is a replica of the old one when you can have the original for the same price with a frame off restoration and all new parts for the same money. It’s just as reliable and easier to work on. And it will be worth more money than the new one you just purchased in 5 years.
I’ll take the new vette and sell it to purchase a restored 68-72 and be happy.
OK guys I get tired of this but here goes - I own a C5 so knock it off already LOL. I love this car - it's fast, it's low, it hugs curves like you won't believe and I like the way it looks and trust me - she turns heads!
The first thing I did was change out the exhaust system - Magna Flow Cat back system - all stainless steel. Power tuned the computer, Donaldson Bat Wing air intake was next to let her breath better.
Dressed up under the hood with a custom insulator - stainless steel rail and plenum covers, Some custom interior work as well.
You may not like anything beyond the C3 body style but I do. I wonder what the C1 and C2 owners think of our sharks? I heard a lady who owned a 60 claim that anything beyond the 67 "Was NOT a Corvette"!
The new Corvettes are absolutely fantastic cars and do just about everything well... It's really hard to find much fault with the engineering or functionality with regard to the newer Corvettes.
Styling is subjective... If you prefer the look of the older Corvettes, that's great! But for every fan of the 1968-1982 Corvettes, there's going to be ten people who prefer the look something else, everything from a vintage Mustang to a new Corvette. The older Corvettes are a significant part of automotive history, but they are only a part... Not the "be all, end all" of the automotive world.
As far as what I intend to "modify" on the new car... Nothing. My time and money are better spent on track time and driving schools... Something that will remain with me regardless of what car I jump into. The newer Corvettes in general (and the Z06s in particular) are overkill for the street as it is... About the only place that you can safely explore the limits of these cars is on a track. When I want to push the Z06's performance envelope, that's where I'll be.
Just drive it when the weather was nice, and then drive it some more, and more and more,,, it would have to be a black/black/black 6 speed convertible with everything the general offers for it. but definately NO chrome floor mats,,, maybe some ZAINO tho, Peace,,,Moosie
