Default tilt/tele

i am new at this, i just purchased a 73 auto trans. the body is in excelent cond. and the interior does need some tlc. it does not have teli/telt and it is somewhat hard for me to get in and out. my main question is how hard is it to change this out to a telt/tele?? how much etc. and what is involved with the change over.
have enjoyed reading the forum lots of info. by the way this is my first
vette and i am a senior citize, and proud of it.

Welcome aboard!
You can change the whole column. Not too hard and somebody here probably has one if you post in "Parts Wanted"
Good luck,
Greg

there is about 5 bolts on the inside onder the dash and two electrical clips on the column. (three holding it to the firewall and two holding it to the dash).

Under the hood there may or may not be a clip attaching a cable the leads to the transmission and there is one bolt holding the shaft to the steering box.( this screw must be taken all the way out to remove the column).

for as first imer it may take 2.5 hours to do the job. but that does not include if the steering wheel has to come off.

Good Luck,
Jim

I just went thru the same project......If you can find one thats good in
the $600.00 range buy it...........

I bought one from a forum member for $200.00 that was shot, So after
$390.00 for a rebuild from Columns Galore, $250.00 in new parts,
I'm into it for $840.00

The good news is it is all new and Rick at Columns Galore was excellent to deal with, Check there web sight you may be able to buy one from them.

The funny thing is ......Tilt/Tele was an $80.00 option in 1970....Talk about inflation

Good luck
