BeeJay,
Not to rush, but have you tried the 18's up front and the 18 X 10.5's in the rear. I'm just trying to determine what sizes to order.

Thanks guys,
Christian
I haven't tried the 18s up front, but it's the same 9.5 width as the 17s. I need to get tires mounted on the 10.5s. I'm keeping my eye out for a good deal on 295/35-18s new or used. Then I can mount them.

Ordered my Z06 rims today

Tomz are real nice people to work with!
They even called me back and advised that the offset would not work on the '82 Vette and the calipers would not clear.
I explained how the Forum Members had gotten around those issues using the spacers.

Very nice people, GREAT PRICE, and I can't wait to see what they look like!

Thanks everyone for the input and tech. advise,
Christian

What exactly did you order? 4 18s?
Bee Jay
You'll need tires now. I went with Summitomo's from Tire Rack.

Bee Jay,
Yes, the 18's. I ordered the 18" X 9.5's for the front and 18" X 10.5's for the rear. I will worry about the spacers later due to the offset trailing arms, I will need only a 1" or so spacer in the rear.
No money for the tires right now, but I couldn't pass up the $599 for the Z06's.
Need the cash to send the frame and raditor support out for powdercoating in a couple of weeks. Probably go with gun metal grey for the color. It should look real nice with the VP & P performance package I have.

Thanks,
Christian

82md Stick with the VBandP adapters they are a little more money but they are well made.

I believe they require a 1/4" shim to clear the front tie rod end and relocation of the e-brake bracket. They would be a lot cleaner than using 2" + adapters.

No doubt, and the 1/4" shims are a whole lot easier to get through tech inspection.
Not to mention that I just can't stand a car with thick spacers. May as well get those multifit rims with all the extra lug nut holes to complete the look. Thanks.

Neal,
I got the Z06 rims today. Man, do they look great in chrome.
The 18 x 9.5's have no issues up front. However, while holding the 18 x 10.5's on the rears I notice the clearance looks awfully tight. I have seen your photos (great pictures and alot of help, thanks) and it looks as if all of the tire fits under the body lip. My main concern is I do not want any of the tire to protrude from beyond the lip. I have the 2" offset trailing arms, but the frame above the rear caliper looks as if it is the only thing from the wheels sitting further back.
With the 295/35's installed, do your tires fit all the way under the wheel well at the top? If not, then I may switch to a 18 x 9.5's in the rear. Just looking to verify things before it is too late.

Thanks,
Christian

82MD
I just noticed your post. I removed the spring a couple weeks ago to have it de-arched. After I took it out I compressed the suspension to make sure that the tire did not hit anything. I will do it again and take some pics and post them for you.

82MD
I took some pics and will post them but it is very hard to see the areas that you are concerned with. I did compress the suspension an the tire is very close (1/8" to 1/16" from the frame and the fender lip) but it does clear. I may have to play with camber to get the tire centered in the well under full compression. I will have to wait until I set the final ride height before I align the rear. I hope this helps you in your decision on your rims and tires. If you need any more help just let me know.

Neal,
Thanks a million for the photos. I think I am going to sell the 18 x 10.5's and order another set of 9.5's for the rear. It looks as if the clearance is just a little too close for my liking. I would like some more room for play in the rear suspension and travel.
Thanks again for all you have provided! This is what truly makes owning a Vette different...

Markm,
I pretty certain they are the same. I know Chevrolet used the same frame from 1963-1982 on the Vettes.
