Rusted Hinge Pillars
I have an 82 that has rust on the bottom two inches on the hinge pillars. The two sides are rusted and the front lip but the back is not rusted that bad. The body mount appears to be solid at least below the rubber. The drivers side is much worse than the passenger. I was thinking about cutting out the rusted metal and stitch welding 20g steel to create new structure. I am trying to avoid lifting the car off the frame becasue I have heard if possible stay away from taking the body off the frame. I would like to get advice on how best to approach this. I am interested in doing the job right because I don't plan on getting rid of this car. Thanks for your assistance.
