I ran my 77 with the carpet loose for 10 years, it never moved a bit. The kick panels, door bottom moldings, seats and console did a great job of pinning it down.
Dont glue it. If you ever need to get back under the carpet again, you'll see why. It does'nt go anywhere with everything thats bolted down on top of it.

Worst stereo install I ever did was a friend's 944. Porsche glued EVERYTHING in that car down...the carpet...the side panels...anything they could. An absolute PITA.
I put reflectix down under my old carpet to experiment before getting new carpet...did not glue anything, but used aluminum duct tape for the seams on the reflectix...carpet stays put...no issue there..

What is everyone's results with putting the reflectix in? Did it help with cabin heat? I just installed mine last weekend but won't have the interior back together for a couple of weeks. Did you put reflectix in the rear compartment?
I put the Reflectix everywhere, glued down and used aluminum tape on seams. Then laid the carpet on top of it. I only used a little glue in a few places (vertical walls) to keep the carpet in place while I finished the job. I does help with the heat problem.
