Engine noise
I am going to look at a 78 L82 4 spd tomorrow night. Owner used to drive it regularly, overheated it. He had the crank redressed, cylinders honed, reassembled it himself. One of the heads was cracked, so he had an older set rebuilt at a shop and he assembled the engine. He admittedly did not know what he was doing. He once he got it running again, the engine idled very rough, sounds "tight" and will squeek after warming up. He says he can't get it to idle correctly and blames it on the carb.
My guess is he probably over tightened the rockers or has the wrong pushrods in it. But what sort of damage could he have done to the bottom end and will an overtorqued bearing squeek?
