My son and I have been going to AutoRama for many years now. We make a day of it. It is THE place to be if you're a hot rod guy. A camera is definately a necessity because you never know who will be there....
The Detroit Autorama is this weekend. I hear its the best "indoor" hotrod show in the country. If anybody has gone in the past, is it really worth going to? Detroit Autorama
Autorama is mandatory for all local car guys (and girls). Those found not to have attended are usually fined and/or imprisoned.
Seriously though it's a fantastic show. I've been going for 20+ years and I'l be there again tomorrow.
The show has 52 cars up for the Riddler Award. The toughest show in the country to win and the most prestigious. The Riddler is the most sought after award for hot rodders. Several previous winners are there including the first in 1964 won by Al Bergler in his competition gas A/MR "More Aggravation". One hell of a show on two levels. Dont miss the lower floor as there are more cars in the basement. My 62 and the drag cars "Walts Puffers" have won there class several times. My Fuel Roadster was second in the Riddler in 1973. And my Yellow 70 Hemi convertible was a class winner in 1998.
