i have two things i would like to know. i am new to the vette world i just purchased my first ever vette. 1973 coupe red in color 4 speed.
1st what is a vert??? that i am hearing about
2nd just got back from a long ride in my new vette and my legs where hot as you know what, even with the windows down it was really hot inside the vette. is this a common thing with vettes. also anything over 3000 rpm and the she seems to want to shake apart any suggestion as to what it might be?
Interior heat is common and can be reduced by adding floorboard insulation. As far as the shaking, you might have a miss/foul plug/timing might be off.
1st : Welcome
2nd : Vert = convertable =
3rd : hot feet = need more info, do you have headers? sidepipes?
4th : vibration could be anything. Check the obvious first, tire balance, loose lug nuts, u-joints. rule those out and move on to rear end and transmission.
Yes, being hot inside is very normal for having a C3.
Do a search, there are many options for bringing the temp down.
(and yes, it will be much worse in the summer).

i have headders, when i start off in first gear she starts to buck and it feels like the trans is jumping off the bottom of the car. and again at 3000 rpm.

1. Vert = ragtop which i have alwayse prefered as a term didnt hear vert till i joined this forums
2. vibration could be any number of things and we would need more detail
3. Hot well that a question of perspective, certainly cooler that the desert, but this can be remedied to some extentet depending on the motor trans etc. etc.etc.
Welcome to the forum

Engine mounts and tranny mounts would be my first guess!

I'm with Tim, get her up on jackstands and climb under. I'd check all the mounts and make sure the car is safe, also prevent major repairs / damage. I had a major hot foot problem. I have a BB with headers and sidepipes. The sidepipe mufflers were so restrictive and plugged with rust that it made the headers extremely hot. I replaced the mufflers with glass packs and wrapped the headers with header wrap and no more hot feet. Sounds better, no hot feet and more horses.
Make sure the vacuum control line to your heater control valve isn't broken. Hot water running through your heater core doesn't help the already high C3 internal temperatures. I fixed mine, it was quite cool inside for a few days, then it broke again...and got hot.

almost all old vettes the vac control to the heater is broke. You can replace it with a plumbers brass valve from home depot or any good hardware store. cut a piece of 1/2 pipe that has screw threads on either end (4 inch long) so you have two 2 inch long pieces that can thread into the valve. Replace the vac check valve w/the brass one & shut off the flow of water into the heater core. Your feet will thank you.

Welcome to the best source for Vette Info I know of...and....good people!
Check tire balance first. rieve the car to 3000. clutch it with foot off accelatior if vibration stops has to be engine or drive train check universial joints. is engine missing at 3000?
