I have both my AMP and Clock gauges not working. I decided to buy the gauges new. Now the fun part, I'm just starting to unscrew the bezel and it seem to hang near the bottom when trying to lightly pull it out. What do I need to do in order to remove the bezel so I can replace the gauges?
What are the steps to do this right. Any help would be appreciated.
Ther are two studs that connect the center bezel to the padded console. They are accessible by removing the two small panels below the dash pands and in front of the center console.
I have never used these studs on my '69 over the last 30 years and 142,000 mile for improved serviceablity.
There is a bracket that is in place between the shifter console and the bezel. At the bottom of the bezel are the two bolts that go through this bracket to hold everthing in place.
Take the sides of the shifter console off, and you might be able to see these with a flashlight. Once you get the nuts off of the bracket, then it should come out.
I have a question. Once you replace the gauges, are you also going to replace the plastic lens cover that goes over all of the gauges?
Why or why not.
No, I wasn't planning on replacing it. As it turns out I had a MP3 radio installed last year but didn't have the money to install both gauges while the bezel was out. So now I'm stuck going back in to get things working.
Also I see the two bolts but there isn't any nuts on them, could it be self screwing?
Well thanks for the image that was great. It turned out that I needed to loosen the middle console in order to slide out the gauge bezel. I was able to replace the two gauges and it works, its quite a site to see everything working.
