Rear tire clearance help....
My new 245-15-60 TA's are hitting the e-brake bracket and cable housing on the t-arms. So I checked the back spacing on these aftermarket chrome rally's. It's 4 1/8". Supposed to be 4". So I am thinking about some wheel spacers. I see they are available in sizes from 3/16" to 1/2".. I am thinking about 7/32" would do it.
These wheels have been a real PITA. Came on the car when I bought it. Car wobled...found a bent wheel, replaced it, 6 yr old tires have some runout so the car still wobles....bought new tires and now I have clearence issues. I am thinking of going back to OE rallys (full set also came with the car, need restored) or some TT11's
Any problems or safety issues with using wheel spacers???
thanks
Mark
When I first got my car it had Camaro ralleys which were 41/2 backspacing I believe. The previous owner had put 3/16 spacers on the rears for clearance. I was not comfortable with that at all and got some correct vette ralleys. I think there are wheel adapters that will move you out some and be much safer.
Well, I'd seriously consider having the bracket relocated rather
than adding spacers.
I had to relocate mine. Only one was left. The drivers side got ripped off due to tire flexing during a turn. (Assumption....I bought the car ths way). I moved the brackets to the top of the arm and have had no problems with the parking brake functioning correctly. I vote to move the brackets.
