Default pulling motor and trans....

well, i decided that since i'm redoing my pulleys and a few other things, i mine as well pull the motor/trans and detail it up the right way.....

just a few questions

do i have to pull the radiator?
is there a trans mount or just 2 motor mounts?
any other items i need to look out for that i need to take off that isn't attached to the motor?

hopefully i'll order up my items and find a cherry picker to pull the motor.... i really don't want to buy one....

I don't know for sure if you are going to have to remove the radiator, but I removed mine when I pulled my engine and transmission. If you don't remove the radiator, I don't see how you would remove the fan shroud or have enough room to work.

I removed my engine first and then removed my transmission second. I wasn't planning on removing my transmission at first, but once the engine was out, I figured that I might as well work on the transmission. So I can't give any advice on removing them together.

The engine weighs around 600 pounds (for an L-48 with no aluminum). I would estimate that a TH350 transmission weighs around 80-120 pounds (drained and without the torque converter). I can pick it up on my own so I know it doesn't weigh more than that.

Yes, there are two engine mounts and one transmission mount (on the crossmember).

Comming from a complete novice, removing the engine and transmission isn't that hard to do, just a little tedious. Be sure to mark everything and take lots of photos as to how things looked when they were together.

Also plan for a mess and lots of fluid spills.

i figure it'll take me about 1 hour to take things off and maybe pull it..... all the bolts/parts are new so i shouldn't have a problem with rust..... mine as well pull it and clean it up and upgrade..... i had a few rad hoses blow on me and spewed antifreeze all over the place.....happened 3 times......... once for the clamp failing, 2 times from the alternator belt coming off and wrapped around the hose and pulled it....go figure...... time to hard line a few things toooo..... here we go..

thanks
