hey fellas. I now have a hole in my radiator. I am looking at aluminum radiators. I have a small block manual. My friend has a 73 auto. we both have the same radiators (As far as i can see) What are the differences between an auto and manual radiator, or big block or small block? will they all bolt up????
Thanks
No, they are not all the same. There are several widths, some have filler necks, some don't. Automatics have transmission coolers, manuals don't. Etc.
Call Tom Dewitt, tell him what year your vette is, what motor and trans, and he will tell you what the best model to get for your car is to get.
With a Dewitts you will know it fits perfect with no issues and that it works and cools great.
Wonderful peace of mine to have.
Best customer service in the business too. Tom just repaired mine from my '65. It was 8-10 years old and a previous owner cross threaded the draincock and it screwed up the threads in the aluminim real bad where a new one wouldn't go in. I sent it to Tom and he reapired it.......... at no charge! not bad for an 8-10 year old product that I wasn't even the original purchaser of.
There are lots of archived threads on the subject. Dewitt's is a direct drop-in, but a lot of people have had success with generic Chevrolet radiators.

The 71 is a 26" core and the 73 uses a 27.5". They look similar but there not.
Here is the A70 model for the 69-72 sb
You can almost see the factory "dent" in the lower tube which is required to clear the suspension. It uses a 3.5" deep outlet tank with filler neck
Here is the A69 model for 69-72 BB
This one is bigger and it does not have a filler neck.
Finally you have the A73 model for 73-76
This one is identical to the A69, except it has a filler neck

Auto radiator: Has a built-in transmission fluid cooler (the little intake holes on the passenger side)
