It looks like I will need to get another engine for the vette. I am considering the LM1 GM Goodwrench engine. Pace Performance lists it at 250 hp and 350 tq. Scoggin Dickey lists it at 249 hp and 304 tq.
Any ideas on what the actual numbers are?
Does anyone that has this engine have any comments or complaints?
Check out this tech article form Checy Hiperformance where they got 265 hp and 350 torq out if it in stock form, there is a whole series on building the LM1 up and the page links to the series listing but for some reason the links page does not work so just google search 'Goodwrench quest II' then keeping changing the Roman numeral up to VIII, I have an LM1 and started with stabbing a $60 summit cam in it when I bought then went all the way up to alum heads and the Crane roller cam they use in the ZZ383

Mine runs great.
I did consider that engine as well. However, I figured that if I chose the GM Goodwrench engine with 40 fewer horsepower, I would get a 3 year, 100,000 mile warranty, instead of the 1 year, 12,000 mile warranty with the GMPP engines.
I also did read the articles of beefing up the LM1. The only reason why I wouldn't start changing things is because it would void the warranty. After the 3 year warranty, everything is fair game.
The Pace Performance website stated that they got their numbers using an Edelbrock 2101 intake, Q-jet carb, and 1 5/8" headers. I figured that if they did actually get 350 ft-lbs torque, that is pretty good.
