Default Where do I find engine I.d./VIN?

I have a Corvette engine in my truck, but don't know the history as I purchased it used. Where can I locate the VIN/engine I.D.? I would like to know what year/type Corvette the engine came out of, as well as other specs. Also best type of oil to use, filters, plugs..etc. Any help out there would be greatly appreciated.

The front of the passenger side head there should be a lip on the block with numbers stamped into it. There will be a row of numbers and then a three digit letter suffix to indicate what type of motor it is. The row of numbers relate to the vin in the car. Look for the three letters and post or search the internet to find out what it came from. If you get the three digits I will look it up on my list and let you know.

Good luck.

Thanks!

I found the plate as instructed, but I didn't see the three digit suffix. The imprit on the plate was: 16S431706 V0414CKX. (third letter is not the #5)

I don't know if this helps, but thanks again for everything.
