Watching American Hotrod while going thru the Corvette Forum. Looks like they are rebuilding a 54 Corvette. Kinda neat to watch all the fiberglass work being done.

Man, you must be REALLY bored to watch that show...It was a good show when it started, but when it seemed like quality guys who knew what they were doing were leaving or getting fired every other week, I stopped watching.

Is that show still on or was this a repeat??
When and what channel??

I have to agree, too much drama sometimes and not enough building. I can't believe Boyd was so blind to the self destructive shop he was creating. All he had to do is watch the show !

I watched it

Stephen DeFazio Did you see them make the frame that was nice to see.

That was the only cool thing that I saw

The rest was the same old idiot that thinks he has to have everyone afraid of him and his rants. I have always been able to get more out of people by being decent to them.

The fiberglass work was kind of cool though.

Why did they make the fenders with wood in them on the fender rebuild

Personally I like watching American Chopper. The difference between the Teutels and Boyd is Boyd is a passive-aggressive, hyper-controling, mind-job. It's Boyd's way or the highway. Paul Sr just rants and gets over it and everyone knows that. You can tell that the people in Paul Sr's shop actually enjoy being there. Also, the Teutels actually do things for other people and expect nothing for it.....when was the last time you saw Boyd do something on the show for someone else? NY attitude may not be "normal" for you but it is genuine with no BS to cut through. I think most folks can't handle someone being "direct". Myself, I prefer it....keeps me from wasting my time when I know EXACTLY is on someone's mind.

They turn these shows into soap opera format so they can catch different viewer types...I wish they would keep in mind the people who they wanted to target in the 1st place are still watching but they are going to loose them quick. To much KRAP not enough substance. just my .02

Art Morrison made the frame specifically for that 54 Vette. It needed extra clearance for the 20 inch wheels they were putting on the back. They do excellent work, but it ain't priced for the builder on a budget.

The car needed mini tubs to clear the 20 inch wheels going on the rear. The bodyman said early fiberglass boat construction used fiberglass over wood. Making a light wood structure the shape he needed and glassing over it was the plan. It appeared to work OK on the show. He probably could have done the same thing with aluminun flashing and pop rivets, but wood is a better sound deadner and keeps its shape well. Sometimes there are good ideas to be found and I'm not saying that was one of them. Chop Cut Rebuild is another I watch and have seen some interesting things done. They move fast, so don't expect to see any detail work.

Boyd built a car for the Make A Wish Foundation - the Max Wedge. It was auctioned off at Barret Jackson for a tidy little sum.

You guys need to understand these shows are edited for 'entertainment'. Do you really think the girls in Days of our Lives are that psychotic? They're not designed to be documentaries, so take them with a grain of salt and spend some time looking at the stuff in the background. Lots of cool stuff.

Paul senior in American Choppers built near 20 custom bikes long before the show found him. He did this as a hobby while building a custom metal fabrication business. After the first show aired, he called the producer ready to fly to Kali and bust him up. He thought most of the show should have been on the editing room floor, as they made him and son look like fools IHO. The producer assured him the show was a hit and that action is what the people want for entertainment. The show turned out to be the biggest hit on TV and made the family some $$$ and increased business. Most people are armchair builders and love work. They could watch it happen all day, as they say. Hidden in the drama and nonsense there are clever ideas to be found. IMO

Default OCC rocks!

My family and I went to NY in December and visited with the OCC crew. They are genuine and good hearted people, IMHO. They invited us up there to give my daughter her dream of seeing them and thier shop and spent time away from shooting the fourth dream bike (trike) to spend with my daughter and the rest of us. What you see on the show is how they are in person, the laughs, gripes, and honest desire to help others, not just for publicity. The story of them wnting the show pulled is also very true.

I usually tape these shows and fast forward through the BS. If I don't see a car being built I stay on the FF button. You can watch an hour show in 20 minutes!
