Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself to my new C3 family..
I picked up an '82 C3 yesterday. Runs, drives (a little =), has front end damage, no title (lost), $2000. Interior all there but some is bad, it's white on black. The odometer says 88,xxx miles...maybe its 188?!
Anyway, this is my first American car to own..
The plans for this car are to bring it back to road worthy status while working on getting a title (will need yall's advice on that)... First thing I want to do is find where the transmission fluid is leaking from and fix that to make the car driveable... Also change all fluids and do the brakes.. they 'barely' work from sitting for 5 years... scarry! Also fix the e-brake as it does nothing now.
Next on the list is the fiberglass front end work...it's cracked in several places. Also to do are the head-lights (no bueno) and the small cosmetic exterior stuff like mirror's, making sure all the lights work, etc.
My other cars:
1974 Datsun 260z, SBC 350, WC-T5 (sold... never ran at track)
1974 Datsun 260z, 2.8 liter turbo 5spd (stock 1982 280zx turbo motor, 13.86@97mph, 2470lbs with me in it and FULL tank of gas)
1998 Nissan Altima <---- junkyard support vehicle (stock, automatic, 2.4 liter, 18-20@85mph??)
I'm 20, and go to University of Houston for mechanical engineering. Have about ~1.5 years of school left before I earn my degree.. It's been a tough ride, and it's not getting any easier.
I really hope I can eventually bring something to this forum but for now I will just search and learn as much as I can.
Welcome to the forums and the madness of Vette ownership!
If your '82 still has the Crossfire TBI setup, you will want to check out the Crossfire forums here: http://www.crossfire.homeip.net/
I also have a '82 and really enjoy it. You can spend a lot money very fast so if you are on a budget as most of us, just do a project at a time as money allows.
Enjoy the ride and post soame pictures of your new baby.
Welcome aboard. Do a lost title search before throwing much $$$ at your car. Here in Texas the man can take your car. Bill of sale is not valid for licensing. Good Luck
