We used to have a Bug and a KarmanGhia that were full out race cars here in town in the eighties. They were light, fast and competitive especially in the eighth mile. That one didn't look or sound like a street car.

I know I should have better things to do than look at this bug, but does it look like the Mustang wasn't too far behind it at the finish? It seems like the bug lost some steam about mid track. Oh well, guess I'll go watch the Weather Channel or something else exciting.

doubt thats a 454.... I've seen pics of bugs with bbc's but they were all front mounted... listen to that bad boy, thats no big block. also, the exhaust out the back is typical of bugs. There are some pretty sick stroker motors out there for those things. My cousin has a dune buggy conversion bug, a little engine work and this thing HAULS.
