We ususally send out a congratulatory email. Once a month the elite members get together with the managment committee and look over the recommendations for promotion. Based on the quality of your contributions to the forum you are promoted to senior member if you gain a 2/3 majority of the voting members of the academy...................... yeah....

Well put.
A while back, post count actually counted.
Something like 10,000 posts and you could upload your custom avatar.
At various milestones, your stars would accumulate and change colors.
Ok - they still do.
You could judge someone's relative knowledge by their stars.
Then came the OT post ******. Someone somewhere must think that
OT posters buy stuff - since they were rewarded for their meaningless posts.

That all changed a little while back. Now, you get extra features by contributing to the forum.

So, as a Lifetime contributor, does everyone get to customize their title ?

One nice thing another forum I frequent does is not count off-topic posts in the post count, keeps the post counts where they belong, in the tech sections.
