Dealer Codes question
Hi guys ,a question for you from New Zealand.
(I posted this on the C3 Technical forum recently-should have been here I think although I've had some help so far).
I recently bought a '69 BB Roadster in California and shipped it back home to New Zealand.
I was told the car had been in California for most of its life at least (20+ years) but is there a way to track a cars history in the US? I know for newer cars there is Carfax but will this also work for older cars or is there other ways.
The car is very original and I would very much like to trace its history of ownership and even where it was originally sold(dealer).
Can this be traced with the VIN number?
I have the original tank sticker.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated-this is a greatr car!

PS have managed to identfy the area code -34 and dealer code -099, on my tank sticker-who was dealer 099??
