Default AC Blower Vent/ Defrost

for some reason when the AC, heat, or vent is turned on air blows through the defrost vent on top of the dash, and when defrost is on the air blows out of the normal vents. how do i reverse this?
thanks, andrew

go thru the vaccume system,,what year? there is a solid black vaccume hose called the source vaccume line (feed to the vaccume porta vaccume switch) it takes vaccume from the engine to the switch in the console,,when you select heat for instance trace the color on the diagram and make sure that the right color goes to that accuator...one accuator is for heat/defrost so make sure the correct color tracers is going there,,,then theres max air and normal recirculate,,,when you put dial on max air the vaccume goes from the porta vaccume switch to that perticular color tracer vaccume line,,and in that instance there is a ''t'' in the line,,so the vaccume splits one line closes the flapper (via a accuator) in the wiper well passenger side while opening the flapper in the passenger;s kick panel,,,which stops incoming air and recirculates cabin air(max air cooles inside air) first i would disconnect one load(accuator) at a time and apply a known vaccume source to it,,to see if the accuator is opening and closing,,if it is then the accuator is good and you have to check that the right line is going to the right place i color coded the vaccume diagram,,,its for a 73 but i think its the same up to 75 maby later..let me know if you get stuck,,,,its real e z ,carl--------------------------------------------------

green tracer vacc line should go to the accuator in the wiper well, thats the one w/ the ''t'' also opens the pass kick panel for max air mode(orange tracer) blue and red looks like heat/defrost(im not wearing my glasses right now!!!)trace them out...open the console take off the shifter **** and the screws holding it down,,,you'll see the porta vaccume switch(all the lines go to it) the black one is the feed see if you have suction,,,then take off one at a time and connect them to the black one ,,,that will take vaccume from the source to the load(accuator) e z isnt it??? good luck my fingers are gettin sore typing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
