Default [TI]Transitorized ignition?

I've heard about this ignition on early C3's. Anyone have a picture of the setup & distributor differences?

Jughead,

Go to this website. www.tispecialty.com

The magnetic pulse transitorized ignition system is a neat feature. This was standard issue on the 1971 LS-6 cars.

The factory TI ignition was used from 64-71 on quite a few SB & BB Corvettes as well as Chevelles and Impalas. I own quite a few of them including one that was to be used on the still born 1970 LS-7. Up until just a few years ago I used one on my racer with an MSD box. Long before there was a MSD, GM sold a ball bearing TI, available "over the counter" with a reputed list price of $1600.00

They also came on the '70 and '71 LT-1 cars. Unfortunately, when they developed problems, the distributor was usually yanked and replaced with a points unit. This is the case with my '71 LT-1. The amplifier and wiring harness are still there, but the expensive distributor is long gone.

My TI box went dead on my 71 LT1 as I backed it off the trailer for NCRS judging. The guys there pushed me in the building and replaced the old style with a new style board. The problem wih them is just that.. when they go out, there done.

I have a TI distributor off a 69. The distributor tag reads 1111491 DELCO REMY 8 M 26. In my old Vette Vues Fact Book of the 1968 to 1972 Stingray by MF Dobbins this translates to a 1969 350 HP 350 with TI. Its missing the tack drive gear. otherwise good. i have never used it. I bought it years ago (1982) when I had a 71 LT-1 that had the TI distributor replaced with a points dist. I never put it on and that car is long gone. I still have the distributor.
