Default Which Vortec combos are you running?

I'm trying to find out what type of Vortec head, header, intake and carb combo anyone is running on your C3. Any issues with fitment (hood, headers, etc.) with your combo? Thanks!

What year hood are you working with?

I have a '75 with stock hood, runnining Vortec heads, a GMPP Bow Tie intake, Edelbrock AVS carb. Dynomax headers and a modified stock air cleaner because this combo was about an inch too high to close the hood without the rubber seal.
There is another thread on the Tech side where a couple others have Edelbrock performer intakes on '73s, and it appears they have clearance. I was able to reduce the height of the stock air cleaner and retain the original appearance and functionality. The intake manifold height is the key. I'm sure there is enough knowledge on this forum to develop a chart showing all of the intake brands and heights to take some of the guesswork out. Another consideration is the fore aft placement of the carb mounting pad on the intake when it comes to reinstalling the ignition shielding and front air cleaner clearance to the hood.

Thanks ahoover, I'm looking at the Vortec package sold by Scoggin Dickey with the heads and the Edelbrock intake for my '80 with the stock hood. I'd like the Air Gap intake, but that may be too tight. I also have Dynomax headers and I suppose yours cleared well enough with the Vortecs. Thanks again for your input.

I have a 76 that I have a standard vortec block and heads with a Edelbrock Performer intake. Went with a Holley carb and had to get a drop base air cleaner but it all fit under the stock hood.

You won't have any problem with an '80 hood and that intake with a drop base air cleaner.

The Dynomax headers fit without any crimps and they don't come as close to the floor as Hookers so you'll have more ground clearance.

I'm running vortec heads, edelbrock performer intake and dynomax headers. I use slightly droped base air cleaner (came with the car) with 2-1/4" filter with about 1/4 to 1/2 inch clearance. to the hood.
