Default '76-A/C Hose Question

In replacing the a/c hose, (VIR system), the new one from Chevy has the vir attaching portion with the bend the opposite direction as my original hose (car bought new). Thinking it was wrong, I returned it to Chevy and ordered one from Ecklers. Suprisingly, this hose is the same as Chevy's.
My original hose attaches to the vir from the front side (front of car side) while this new hose would have to attach from the back . Frankly, I don't know if it will fit. (I know there are two hoses for the '76, early and late, mine is for the A6 compressor). Since the hood has to be removed to replace the hose, I haven't tried the new one yet. Can anyone tell me if this hose will fit. Also, this new hose is smaller in outer diameter and appears to be of less quality than the new being much lighter. Hopefully, technology has allowed them to do this and keep the same quality. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes the hose is smaller in diameter but is stronger than the original. This hose is designed to use 134A freon or R12. Also when you mount it to the condenser the hose will kinck. Just get it aglined the best you can that it isn't totally kincked shut. When the freon goes through it the kinck will go out.

Also you should replace the VIR unit at this time and change all of the O-rings to the green ones. They are stronger and you can use the 134a freon.

Thanks for the reply. You didn't mention if this is the correct hose since the hook up to the vir appears to have to be connected from the rear side in stead of the front as is the original.

I do think that it is the correct hose for your car.
