Default hood choices?

I am changing the hood on my 71, it has a big block hood now but I am eliminating the wiper door and need a long style hood. I called vanacors and wanted to order the long style big block hood but the said I would have to modify the front cap area by the windshield and the only one that would work with out modification is the L 88 long style. they state it is 2 1/4 over stock height. I really do not want a hood that is too high. anyone have a picture of this hood? the stinger hood does not seem to be as high as the L 88, this might be an option. pics and advise please if you got em. thanks

Call American Custom Industries and inquire about the RHF035L. This is a standard height L88 style hood specifically for 68-72 and eliminates the wiper door. Since the company you called mentioned a rear modification, it sounds like their long hood is molded to match '73 and later fenders at the rear. The above part number matches early fenders. ACI is a manufacturer and sells to most of the Vette parts houses, by direct and you might save $$$.

I've actually thought about putting an LT-1 long hood on my car, but I've never found a picture of what it would look like. I'm afraid that the combination of the longer hood plus the rubber bumber wouldn't look right.

this is a picture of their L88 on a 71 at a local car show it was the 4 1/2 version. seems like it should be straighter across the back. if I remember the bottom of the windshield showed in the curves. what is the difference on the later C3's 73 on?

Do you have any complete pictures of this hood? Of entire car?

The fenders are higher at the rear windshield area.

My hood is from Vanacor but it is the SHORT L88 hood (stock L88 hight, NOT the high rise L88).

thanks Corey, that hood is starting to grow on me. how much clearance do you have under it? I may add fuel injection to my big block later and will need more clearance than the stock hoods offer.
I read somewhere the factory L 88 was 7/8 inch taller than the stock hood, so this hood is about 1 1/2 taller than the stock L 88 hood

Default found one

in my search for a hood I found one in my shop. I decided to go back with the factory hood and wiper door. the big block hood looks the best to me, I will just have to get used to the wiper door look.

thanks for the input
