Default #'s Match

How can you tell if you have a numbers match Vette. I checked on the block under the head on the passenger side and I found 2 sets of numbers, 1 set was part of the Vin # on the car.

Thanks for your help!

That's how you tell if that number matches...an excellent first step. "Numbers Matching" is a huge and contentious issue, and can encompass stamped, machined, and cast numbers on virtually all components of the car.

Typically, the VIN derivative (yours matches), the engine assembly code (the other set), and the block casting/date code are the most important to collectors.

Transmissions seem to be secondary, with differentials being the third main item people want to be "numbers matching".
