Default My 79 Progress

Well I have made some progress on my gremlins. I got the headlights to go up and down. I had to bypass the headlight switch. I am just using the bypass pull switch for now. They go up and down great. Except for some tweaking on the Holley the new Jasper 385 HP motor runs great. For right now the only way it will run cool is with no thermostat. I am going to have the radiator re-cored this week. I also have to decide on some tail pipes. I have some temporary ones just stuck in the mufflers. I still have a long way to go but it drives great. Here are some pics:

Right now the interior is a mess. It has new black leather seats and all new carpet. I just needs the new dash or overlay. I also need a new speedo/tach lens. But here are a few pics of the motor and Exhaust. I still have to clean the firewall and underneath but I want to be driving right now.

Looking pretty darn good. Should be lots of fun with that new 383.

I went with a Jasper because I get good deals and on the performance motor they offer a 1 yr warranty. It is the jasper stage II 383/385 HP 409ft/pd torque motor. It has Dart heads, 9.5:1 compression, 4 bolt main, and a decent cam. They reccomended an Edelbrock performer RPM intake and Holley 750 carb. So that is what I went with. The motor my cost was $2660. Plus being a Jasper it was just bolt your stuff on and drive. It was broke in already. The motor that was in the car was a 400 with a welded up block. Not worth building. I also built he TH350 with good race clutches, shift kit, and a 2000 stall. She move out pretty good. The car hooks and goes. I got the car for my son and I to have fun with. I traded my 76 Superglide Harley for it. The 400 only lasted 30 miles. The guy I got it from gave me $1500 towards the new motor.

Not bad for a non-bumper car. I like that front spoiler.

I will miss the shovel but plan on replacing it with another nice Harley. I had about $16,000 in the harley. But the bike was only worth about $9800. I exceeded it's value. Right now it is about my son and spending time with him. Here are some pics of the Harley:
