Currently my car sits at 28" from ground to start of rear fender (level surface), my exhaust is just 3" from the ground around the differential. My differential is about 6-7" from the ground.
Do I need to replace my rear spring to bring my car up? Or am I riding at the proper height?
I am starting to wonder if I installed my exhaust in correctly. I have a 74 exhaust on my car. But there is really only one way for it to go on.
Does anyone have photos of their exhaust around the rear axel?
I don't have any pics to toss up ... but :
"Proper" height is not determined by fender height.
The suspension components (lower control arm, etc)
are measured to determine proper height. It is in the rear
of my 75 AIM (which is not handy at the moment) ...
pages dealing with spring/bolt selection at the factory.
The fenders can sit at a range of heights ... 28 is at the upper end of OK.
3" sounds close for the exhaust. I'll try to check mine 2-nite.
Something just does not seem right to me. Unfortunately the pictures I took when I took off the original exhaust did not turn out (I need a digital camera)
My car has the original 20k mile spring and sits at 27 3/4" from the ground to the highest part of the rear wheel opening. I have 2 1/2" pipes with 3 5/8" ground clearance at the rear.

I know the ground clearance on my exhaust isn't that great either, but I have yet to have it bottom out. There is about 3" clearance between the exhaust pipes and the monospring I have -- so that is just about right. I can't measure mine right now as it is already 20" jacked up in the rear (replacing the differential cover).
I do have an AIM for the '77 and it doesn't not specify height at the fender wells, but rather at the frame in the area you should be jacking it up (or close to it).
Front: 8.68" curb
Rear: 8.57" curb
To check fronts:
Lift front bumper 1.5 inches and remove hands to let vehicle settle (do this 3 times). Do the same thing by pushing down (3 times). True heights are average of high and low.
