Ordered new door panels, carpet and mats in dark red for my 1981. They came in and I noticed that the carpet in the door panel does not match the new carpet that was sent. The carpet is almost maroon. All of it is labeled as dark red. Anyone else have this problem? The carpet is suposed to match, right? I have put in a call to Al, but have not rcvd an answer yet.

I have a 76 and the interior is firethorn. From the carpet to the door panels and dash all the way to the seats and seat backs there are many variations in the color. I assume it is to give contrast because it all matches and it is most definately not another color, firethorn is unmistakeable. That might possibly be the situation unless it is a huge difference, you can only notice mine if you put the parts right up to each other.

Edit...i noticed after re-reading that you have the delux interior and there is carpet on the door panels...yes that should match

Default Me, Too!

If it's any consolation, last November at Vettefest, I bought carpet, seat covers with foam, and door panels from Al. When I received everything, the drivers' side carpet and rear carpet were wrong. Both were cut wrong. I called their plant in Texas and talked to Arturo[production mgr.] twice. They sent me replacements- drivers' side was o.k., but rear was wrong, again! I called again, went thru mgr. again, and he promised to send out another. 3 weeks ago- still waiting. What cracks me up about this whole thing is I was told that they have a car like this at their place, so there should be no problems as far as fit is concerned! They must have some quality control problems down there. Supposedly, they have a really good reputation. Hopefully, they'll take care of both of us. This stuff is not cheap!! Mark.

I thought it was suposed to match...door panels and floor...It almost looks like they switched carpet vendors and there is a big difference. Thats the guy I'm talking to, Arturo, However, he will not return my calls

The door panel is probably differant stock than the rest of the car. I am sure there are many after market manufacturers whose colors are not what you would call GM original. Even carpet from the same manufacturer and same model will vary in color if it is from a differant production run.

Update, after waiting on the phone for 30 min. and having someone track down Arturo , he finally admitted that they had ran out of the "old" dark red that was on my door panels. Like I thought, they had switched carpet suppliers and did not have enough carpet left to match the doors that he had sent. He said that he would ship me out a new full set of door panels and carpet that matched each other by Thursday. If I get it that quick, it will be to Al
