Wish I were, but West Palm is on the opposite coast. I did, however, attend the one in Scottsdale back in January. Even if you don't agree with the prices, there's some good looking cars at the auctions, and it's a chance to really get up close and get a good look at a lot of these cars.

Sprzout, I'm not in the position to buy, but just as you said I'd like to get up close and see these best of the best cars. WB
I have been to the BJ Scottsdale auction for the last 3 years. It is a great car show. Everything from historical to street rods to restorations to resto-mod and hundreds of cars! If you like seeing the cars close up (out in the exhibit area), you should go. If you want to be in with the bidders, be prepared financially. They want to make sure you can cover your bids.
i live in the so florida area and have been going to the BJ auction since they started having it here. its a fun day and you get to see some great cars. make sure to bring your camera. it is no where near as large as the one in scottsdale, and of course they hype and over value each and every item to cross the auction line, but there is plenty to see and there is a nice selection of vendors in the main building to keep you occupied with both auto related stuff and other things. they have a bleachers type setup in the rear of the room behind the bidder's section on the floor. you can usually find seating in the section as people come and go from it all the time. of course you can mill around on the floor on either side of the "stage" if you don't mind being in the middle of some serious crowds. the auction is broadcast over load speakers all over the grounds, and the actual car up for auction is displayed on a jumbo-tron type monitor on each side of the stage with the bid in about 5 different currencies in real time. it's a bit of a circus, but it certainly is interesting.
by the way, don't be disappointed as some of the cars are anythng but pristine. most are great, but not all. the better ones mysteriously appear when the auction goes live on the speed channel, (around 2pm on saturday) lol!! sunday isn't worth going to as it is "pack up" day. the best cars appear on saturday and get better as the day goes on. the evening session has the million dollar plus items usually.
You see a whole lot of cars, and a whole lot of curves (on C3's and on women, although the ones on the C3s are fiberglass and the ones on the women are plastic).
And you'll hear some interesting conversations as well...
When I went to Scottsdale, my mom was standing near an older model Bentley, which had a "For Sale" sign. A guy walked up and was looking at it, called the number on his cell phone, and says, "Yes, I'd like to make an offer on the Bentley. Would you take $200,000?"
She said she felt out of her element at that point.
