Can anyone confirm if the Rear Pop Up Window, which was recently removed to do a custom winodw tint, can be easily adjusted ? It used to open/close fine but now it takes major bryte force. It appears that the latch pins are off a little. Is it a simple loosening of the outer screw under the cap ring and move the latch pin a little to the right/left ? Is that all it takes, I do not want to make it worse, but dont like anyone else touching her again !
Hi,
The rear hatch on an 82 CE is adjustable at the strikers and also at the hinge mounting points. It is possible to move the strikers slightly so they line up with the lock assemblies. Turning the strikers loosens them and they slide around a little. If any more adjustment is needed, the hinge mounting bolts can be loosened and the hinges slid forward or back. One problem with these hatches is that the hinges stretch over time due to the force of the lift pistons (you might have to put the hinges in a vice and squeeze them back into shape). If the hatch functioned well before it was removed, maybe all it needs is a little fooling with the strikers.
Good luck,
Tom
