I did it on my 68 last year.
Removed all the old grease and cleaned everything well including inside the case. Used emory cloth to clean up all the contacts, work like new, cost me my labor only and some new grease.
You may want to do the same to your window tracks as that grease was so hard I had to use a screwdriver to scrape it out. Cleaned all the tracks, regreased and windows work like new.
I have, checked the carbon brushes (they were fine), regreased bearings and worm shaft, cleaned it and readjusted the gear tension. they are like new now, the windows go up really fast.
One of mine wasn't working, it was completely gummed up and there was a problem w/ the little printed circuit that also holds the carbon brushes. Carefull bending and realigning solved that. Also check the ground, it's just clamped between the case and lid.
Good idea Ksbunting...what kind of grease did you use? Mine were running pretty good, but (mine completely disasembled) seem to be as your...grease is very hard and no existant...
