I need a pic of a Vette from underneath. Sortof like if someone flipped it on its roof and took an arial shot.

I think this will work. I need to plan my exhaust. If the exhaust comes out just before the rear tire would they still be legal as "sidepipes"?

Batsy,
I did that on my '73 race car. Works like a champ and sounds great. I have standard headers, and used dynomax bullet mufflers (about $30 each) through the frame holes, then about a 60 degree angle out. I used a cheap coupling on each pipe so that I can disconnect it without having to drop the frame crossmember.

My car is registered as a 74 which came with factory side pipes. If a car didn't come from the factory with sidepipes than it could result in hassles from "the man". At this point I have only headers. I would like the exhaust to come out right where the sidepipes would and not be hassled by cops. I guess I could put heat shields on if I ever did get hassled.

hawgn68 do you have more pics of your exhaust set-up?? Thanks!

You gotta ask your state DMV or another member in NH who is knowledgable in that area...

I am not sure exactly what you mean. You say that your 74 came with factory side pipes. The only C3 that came from the factory with side pipes is a 69. When the body change over took place in 68, the general did not make side pipes available as an option. In 69 the side pipes were brought back, but are different than the C2 side pipes. In 70 and there after, Chevrolet did not have side pipes as a factory option on a C3.

It was, and is quite common, for people to put 69 side pipes on various years of the C3s and they look great, but they did not come from the factory that way.

I hope this helps you!
