I just bought a 72 and I need to get it to me. Does anyone have much experience with this. LOTS of companies on the net and all in the same price range and time frame. Although I would love to have the car here in a matter of days, I'm gonna need my right arm to shift that 4spd. So if's it real expensive I can wait a couple of weeks to get the car. Anyone have some good success stories? Thanks!
I personally have used DAS (Dependable Auto Shippers) to haul cars from as far away as Florida to Minneapolis. I've always had good experiences with them and you are able to track the progress of your car on their website once it's in their hands.
There are a number of good companies out there but you need to be careful choosing a company just by their presence on the internet. The thing to look for is whether or not they have their own trucks. I've tried a few other companies that just put your car on a list and it's picked up whenever a driver has an open spot. You can wait weeks without any definite shipping date. Be sure you can get a pick-up/delivery schedule in advance.

Bought our '78 Pace Car in Raleigh, NC. Did quite abit of searching on net for carrier. As someone said, they all come in pretty close on price. Main deal is timing of pick up and delivery. Many companies are broker type of deals with your load put out for bid by independent companies.
We ended up going with Nationwide Auto Transport. They put it out for bids. Our contract was picked up by Showroom Transport and finally with Angel Wings Transport who did the actual transport.
Car was picked up in Raleigh area on Wed 3/15 by couple folks with new Dodge diesel and enclosed double car trailer. My son said they were very professional and tucked our pace car in carefully in behind a Camaro drag car. They took the trailer to Georgia. Car was switched to another enclosed trailer that was then pulled to our place in Indiana by another fine gentleman with a Ford diesel. He delivered on Monday 3/20. Our car came through fine.
Yes, it's frustrating with the hassle of making the what you hope to be the right decision. Sorta wish it had been picked up, moved and unloaded with one crew and without move to different trailer, but did not result in any problems.
Price was $1,095.
Regards and good luck in with your decision.

I have used Mackie transport here in Canada to move 3 cars now with no problems. They are a "Door to Door" fully enclosed transport. They might work in the states too. Worth a call anyway, they might recommend a US carrier if they can't do it themselves.
I would definately vote for an enclosed trailer. As I said, our car went with diesel pickup and two car enclosed trailers for both segments of it's move.
Our transport time was only 5 days which I guess was excellent. Of course there is a distance factor in the equation.
Only thing I had trouble with was not knowing exactly where your car was and when it would be delivered. First time we'd done this. So guess I was alittle on the nervous side. They give you approximate timing, but of couse this is dependent on driver/loads/weather, etc...
In making decision, ended up with maybe 8 companies on list. All enclosed. Finally, just picked one. Not very scientific, but it's here. Dealer that we bought from had used this carrier with their luxury cars, so figured it was one of the better ones.
If its an open trailor move, from my experience, when it arrives...DO NOT sign anything until you fully inspect the car and wash the road dirt off to check as well...
...had a 69' Camero shipped from CA to OH, after I washed it off, found a huge scratch on pass right fender, some tools and toolbox in trunk were stolen, and was 1/2 tank empty on gas, driver said they had to 'reload it to get other cars on trailor'...yeah frickin' right.
Called the company, they said you already signed off on it...hindsight, no wonder they dropped it off at night and was in a hurry to leave...@$$holes.
I used Intercity, great service, I knew exactly where the car was daily, very professional, try to steer clear of the " brokerage haulers " just too many ways to hurt your prize with them,, too many switches etc. Who ever you do use,, beware that it will have to fit into their schedule,,,,,,,,NOT yours. Peace,,,Moosie
