I removed the drivers side instrument cluster yesterday to replace all the bulbs & found out that I have a choke light ?? It's located at the bottom of the Tach.
I have never seen it come on. I have owned car for 9 months but it's been winter stored. I tested the bulb that came out & I tested the PC board, both were OK so it should work BUT why is this in the cluster in this car & when would it ever come on.
yes, and 77-81 has it also, non functional from 81 BG cars -up. It's easy to hook up though, some people use it on carbs. Your EFI doesn't have a choke, it only has open loop. You could wire it into the AIR switch solenoid to turn the light on when the solenoid switches to the headers, that's open loop.

Hmmm.......I could use a white LED instead of a bulb behind there & wire it to the alarm system "armed" circuit. Then it would flash "choke choke choke ....."
THS
That was an 81 w/ the light hooked up. It's very easy to hook up, just pull 12V from the other indicator lights or gauges. And have the choke itself switch the ground for the light w/ a relay, that's all.. If you want the light to do something else, just have something else switch the relay to ground the wire.
The C4 corvettes even have other cool lights (for those that have a C4) that are not used like overdrive & engaged..
