I think 275 wont fit unless you got 17x9 or 10's and modified TAs. I'd say 255's are a sure thing, htough.

TTT because I'm in the same boat:

Tomz wheels is running a sale and I'm ready to order, unfortunately they told me 6.5" backspacing is the next size avail from 4" as part of the sale. I have offset trailing arms and was figuring 5.5" backspacing on a 17x9 or 17x9.5 so I can run a 275-295 tire, any recommendations?

Run a 18X10 with 5.5 backspacing in the rear. I have this with stock trailing arms. The 275 40 17 is also a small diameter tire. The 275 40 18 is bigger and fills out the wheel well better.

Will 17x9 or 17x10 with 5.5 backspacing fit as well? I want to stick with 17" all around, especially in the back where the rubber can 'wear down' quicker that the fronts...
