Default Looking for an '82 Convertible Conversion?

Looking to purchase an '82 that has had the convertible conversion done to it. I did a search and have seen pictures of them here and on the web, but can't seem to find any for sale. I live in Florida, so you think I would be able to find one, but no luck so far. My wife and I have recently discovered that my 6 month old son Duke loves riding in Convertibles, so I think I need to get one to keep my 2000 Hardtop company, and since Duke likes it, the wife has given me the green light...good job son! I have always loved the '69's verts with sidepipes, but they are a bit pricey and only seem to be going up, so instead I would like to get the latest of the C3's with the convertible conversion. Please let me know if anyone has a line on one...oh, and I prefer black Thanks in advance!

You'll probably have better luck making one yourself. There ain't that many around and the very few that were converted correctly (read:quality) most likely aren't for sale at a reasonable price.

On a budget? Buy a '74/'75 vert and install the 80's front & rear end.

Thanks for the info guys. I am interested in an '82 since it was the last year and a little bit lighter in weight that the mid-70's, and is fuel injected. I like the looks of the '69's with sidepipes best, but couldn't afford one of those unless I sold my 2000. Anybody else got any other info?

Thanks,
Craig

I dunno if this will help ya or not but last weekend (Saturday) 4-08-2006, I was northbound on Rte. 61 just south of Hamburg Pennsylvania and on the other side of the road was a business, Corvette related by the looks of it , and there behind a chain link fence sat a White Corvette Convertible it looked like an '80-'82 by the front bumper/rear bumpers .I wanted to stop and check it out closer but I was already late because I got lost between Md. and Hamburg and when my business was finished I didnt remember about the car untill I was close to Scranton Pa. it had a Black "haartz" looking convertible roof on it. Several other corvettes around it along with an elCamino . If it werent so far I would have turned back to check it out better (business was closed for the day). Mybe somebody that lives closer to it or knows about that particular shop could give ya a bit more info, and finally, if there was a business name I didnt see it,,,Peace and good luck The y are the sexiest looking convertibles,,, the General should made some,,, Moosie

Here is a link that has a 1980 vert.

http://performancepluscorvettes.net/...1972-2004.html

I bought my 1980 their 2 years ago and they are great to deal with.
The 82's have cross-fire inj. some folks have problems with it.

Performance Plus Corvettes is in Cincinatti , Ohio.

Thanks for the info! That is pretty close to what I am looking for, but I am a bit surprised by how much they want for it. I have seen '69's for that price. Not big on the red interior either, but the rest of the car looks great. Your 80 is very sharp by the way

Thanks again,
Craig

You are right that is way overpriced. Keep in mind that is a dealers asking price I know that they will sell it for much less. Been there, Got mine way under asking price, straight out no trade. My wife and I drove over 300 miles to look at our 80 because it was exactly what we wanted, low mileage(11,676) silver C3 so we may have paid a little more, but I have no intention of ever selling it. Good luck on your search.

So if you don't mind me asking, how much lower than the asking price did you get them to go? Also glad to hear you had a good experince with them, that makes the option of buying it from them less worrisome.

http://www.c3sharktank.com/techinfo/duntovturbo.html Here is the one to buy. It's in FL too! Heck with the crossfire fuel injection. Go with the 1 of 86 built Duntov Turbo Convertible. 4000 miles seems like a fair price for the mileage, options and rarity. You can also tell the wife it is an appreciating investment, sounds like she might go for it if the 6 month old sold her on the convertible.

Wow, that thing is rare, but $39K is a lot more than I am looking to spend. Thanks for looking for me though

So how much do you reckon it costs to do the conversion? What if someone where to bring you and 80-82, how long would it take you to do it?
