Oyster Steering Wheel.
I bought an aftermarket Oyster Leather Wheel from Corvette America. That was about a year and a half ago.I always keep it clean but it doesnt matter the dye is fading on the leather where I hold the wheel most often. Is this common? Were they this bad from the factory or is it just a poor aftermarket quality issue.
As a supplier that restores original GM steering wheels, I will offer my .02. We frequently receive inquires about the aftermarket wheels that are coming from China. People buy them and they look really nice in the catalogs and also look good for about 6 months. That's when the poor quality leather a craftmanship starts to show. A lot of our business is from unsatisfied customers that come to us for a wheel that will meet or exceed original GM specifications. We are hearing more and more about several imported parts that are inferior in one way or another. If you are interested in a restored wheel, that will meet your expectations, please let me know.
