Going to pull my A/C evaporator & box out, and convert to a non A/C box to clean up the engine bay. I have the non A/C outer box and heater core. Bunch of questions before I begin.
1) Will my A/C heater core come out through the engine bay...even if I butcher it out? It's bad anyway...
2) Will the no A/C core fit back in (through engine bay) & function in the A/C inner box?
Thanks fellas
Eddie
The cutout in the firewall is different for AC vs. non AC boxes and the evaporator box is slightly over from the non AC box. Once you changed, it might not be so easy to change back.

Are you suggesting that I am nobody? Thanks, I look forward to your next question.
I appreciate your reply and thank you for the info you provided, but my two original questions are still unanswered. Quess no one knows. I'll just have to find out through my own expierence...

I've never done this to a Vette, but have eliminated a/c on 2 1970Camaro's. From my experience, get absolutely all of the non a/c parts inside and out from a donor car before starting. Modify the firewall as necessary and remount both halves of the heater box. By obtaining all of the donor parts you can install the correct control, ducts and the manual cables that control the air doors and vents. The a/c system used vacuum, heater system uses cables.
Without a complete donor car, you'll end up with a butcher job inside, but a nice looking engine compartment outside.
My '72 originally had AC , but the box interfered with the headers, so it had to go. I took the outer box and cut away most of it, leaving a narrow 3 dimensional "L" shape. Naturally the evaporator had to go. Then I took some sheet metal and fabricated a cover for the part I cut away. I used mostly screws to attach and finished the edges with a little bondo. I painted it flat black, and it just about looks factory. If you're really interested, I could post a couple of pictures.
