Knew it might happen...this morning at 6:45 am I just backed the 69 out to get ready for a run up to Lake Elsinore..let it idle for five minutes..a few minutes later my next door neighbor came over and said some are ticked off cause my vette wakes them early...I told him from now on I'll wait till seven AM.... another neighbor across the street told me he really likes the sound of my exhaust...he is A CHP....rides motors..

screw the neighbors!
my '65 is pretty loud since it has factory sidepipes on it and if I'm leaving with the car early for a show or whereever, I couldn't give the slightest hoot if the sound bothers my neighbors or not. If they don't like it than they are welcome to put a "For Sale" sign in front of their house and move the h*ll out.
I waited 40 years for that car and neighbors are not going to dictate when I can enjoy it.
when the wife and I leave for Carlisle every year we leave about 3:30am Fri morning so we can be at the field by 6am and I have NO problems going out to the garage and starting the car to warm her up at 3:20am so we are ready to leave, loud noise or not.
Call me unfeeling, but my neighbors don't do anything for me so why should I worry about them? Besides, my car with sidepipes is no louder than the guy with the nice Harley who also lives a few streets away in the neighborhood.
the '78 on the other hand is stock exhaust so it's pretty quiet and I douby that car will bother anyone.

I wouldn't care.....6:45 isn't early. Thats no different than people running lawn mowers at that time of the morning.
Now if you were starting it up around 4:00-5:00 am then thats a different story. But on saturday mornings people need to get up early anyways....especially this time of the year, life is too short.
I like my neighbors and get along great with all of them. If I started my vette early (before, say 8am ... edit... make that 7 am on a weekend) I would be prepared to start and go. I wouldn't leave it idling in the driveway for 5 minutes. (bigblock with flowmaster 50s. Not loud by our standards, but loud enough). I have departed for Carlisle at 4:30. Same deal, start and go. On the other hand... if I did it once or twice a year nobody would care anyway.
