Tons of pics of the exterior, wheels, engines, etc. but I haven't found much in the way of interior pictures. Right now my interior is about half out, still need to pull the seats, carpet, and dash (center console including center gauge cluster is out). Other than the seats and carpet it's mostly in good shape, but instead of putting the 70's style interior back in I'd like to get some ideas.
I'm guessing by the lack of responses, 60 views 1 reply, that not very many people change the look of their interior, they just restore them back to stock.
From: the land of a never ending frame-off resto-mod. May Visa have mercy on my soul.
Did you look in Mid Americas catalog? They have some cool seat covers you can get and other accs. Looks like custom combos are available. Your other choice would be to go to an upholstery shop and discuss options with them. I don't know if Wilcox can help. That is where I purchased my leather interior from.
Now we are getting somewhere. Let me toss out some ideas I have for mine... Replace the plastic part of the center console (shifter area) with a thinly padded leather-like vinyl piece (very thin plywood or thin plastic backing). Black plastic switches for the power windows. Black leather shift **** (not sure what to do about the reverse lock-out). Replace the e-brake and pillow part of the console with a similar vinyl piece but a thick padded lid and storage area instead of the pillow thing. White faced gauges. Do something with the center gauge cluster area, but not sure what yet. It's a little more complex shape, and while I'd like to give it the same vinyl look and hide the 70's style fake screw looking stuff around the gauges I'm not sure a good way to do it.
In short, keep the same design but replace as much plastic with vinyl and as much chrome with black plastic as I can.
I like the wood grain cover, it gives a nice flat clean look like I want, I just want a leather/vinyl look instead. Does give me an idea though, I can get a thin flat piece of plastic and use the paint that supposedly gives a flat surface a leather/vinyl grain. Thanks!
I'm completely undecided on two-tone interior. I do know if I do it will be less flashy, black and light gray perhaps. Any more pics of interiors with a more subtle two-tone interior?
