Default How do you guys....

What does everyone use to hold the front hub from spinnig while trying to bolt on wheel spacers? If anyone has any tips let me know! I've tried a few things but just cant seem to keep it in place to get an acceptable torque rating on the lugs. Thanks!

Have a helper sit in the car and hold the brake pedal down, or use a long rod to wedge it down. This would also be a good excuse to put in a line-lock.

Wellsville is not far from Elmira. I used to get stuff from Jeff and his brothers at HowBill, prices were great on fridays at 4:30 until they all quit drinking beer

Well, I'm just about to try this. I like the idea about the helper depressing the brake. It seems to me, though, it's sorta like tightening the bolts on a mid year fan. You hand tighten the nuts and use a pry bar between a couple of the wheel lugs to keep the hub and adapter from turning and tighten the adapter lug nuts. If you are concerned about buggering up the threads, you can put some nuts on the lugs so your pry bar doesn't touch the lugs. The torque spec on my adapters is 65 ft-lbs. I will probably tighten them to 40 each and then go back and do 65. Do every other nut until you get all five done and then go around the pattern again. That will insure that the nuts are torqued equally. Any real-world experiences out there?
