Default Power windows... They quit !

The power windows in my 75 convert just up and quit. They are in the down position ( which is good ) but am I missing a relay or something here ? If one went I would just assume the motor was bad but I can't see a reason for them to both die at the same time. Anyone had this problem ? The car has been sitting for many years.

Thats odd. They aren't in series. One should work even if the other doesn't. You check the fuse???

Fuse checks out. Switches don't seem to have power. That is why I am wondering if there is a relay or control between them. The car sat a long time.... might be corosion also.

I would imagine that the power window wiring is the same in '75 as it is in '78.
Assuming that it is, and since both windows quit together, I'd check the pink wire that goes to each PW switch on the console plate. This is the only wire that is common to both windows and would explain why both would quit at the same time.

The pink wire goes to the center connector on each switch and is the hot lead power wire for the switches and they join together and go to the PW relay. That relay is fed by the fuse panel "ign" tap and than goes to the ignition switch.
I'd first check to see if you are getting proper power and ground at the PW relay. if you are, than either the relay is bad or there is a break in the pink wire between the relay and the switches.
If you aren't getting good power and ground at the relay than it somewhere between the switch and fuse panel or fuse panel and relay.

If you need, email me or PM me with your email address and I'll send you a pic of the wiring schematic of that circuit from my '78 schematic

The power window harness plugs in to the fuse box on your car. I personally have slid in to the seat and kick the plug loose with my monster foot!

You might check this first since it's an easy fix. Main power feed has a connector that is pushed in to the front of the panel.

If you are plugged in, then check to see if you have voltage on the red wire on the switch.

If all else fails take the panel off and hit the motor gently with a hammer, mine did the same thing last summer after that it's ran smooth ever since ?

You can find a schematic on a 1978 at this link. It's an actual enlarged copy. This is the same for your car.
