The power windows in my 75 convert just up and quit. They are in the down position ( which is good ) but am I missing a relay or something here ? If one went I would just assume the motor was bad but I can't see a reason for them to both die at the same time. Anyone had this problem ? The car has been sitting for many years.
Fuse checks out. Switches don't seem to have power. That is why I am wondering if there is a relay or control between them. The car sat a long time.... might be corosion also.
I would imagine that the power window wiring is the same in '75 as it is in '78.
Assuming that it is, and since both windows quit together, I'd check the pink wire that goes to each PW switch on the console plate. This is the only wire that is common to both windows and would explain why both would quit at the same time.
The pink wire goes to the center connector on each switch and is the hot lead power wire for the switches and they join together and go to the PW relay. That relay is fed by the fuse panel "ign" tap and than goes to the ignition switch.
I'd first check to see if you are getting proper power and ground at the PW relay. if you are, than either the relay is bad or there is a break in the pink wire between the relay and the switches.
If you aren't getting good power and ground at the relay than it somewhere between the switch and fuse panel or fuse panel and relay.
If you need, email me or PM me with your email address and I'll send you a pic of the wiring schematic of that circuit from my '78 schematic
If all else fails take the panel off and hit the motor gently with a hammer, mine did the same thing last summer after that it's ran smooth ever since ?
