Default WARNING - Bad engine builder

WARNING

Prestige High Perfomance Engines also known as A and N Engines in Phoenix, Az. is developing a very BAD REPUTATION.
They will not respond to claims for service under their engine warranty program.

Their engines are less than perfect.

WARNING

Stay away from these guys!

Can you say "CONSUMER FRAUD"????

Their warranty is worthless, and their attitude towards their customer's is the reason that I am posting this warning.

Other forum members have reported similar experiences with this engine builder as well.

Sounds just like the guy I used last year in CT, Kehl Tech. Maybe they went to prison together in the machine shop?

I have used Wither automotive in Collingswood for years. The shop is not much to look at but it is very clean and Paul does excellent work. He has done a bunch of machineing on my motors over the years and I have never been unsatisfied. They are not to far from you. A little difficult to find but well worth it.

I really really highly recoment Chucks Speed center (602) 266-5101. Been around since 1966. Very clean shop. WAY knowledgeable people, with almost no turnover. Give em a call. Lance or Travis. Tell em I sent ya - they will laugh cause they know the whole CnV Story...

Hi Gordon,
Yes, I know of Withers - A co-worker is having his engine built there. Unfortunately I found out about Withers after I purchased my engine.

I am planning to take the heads off tomorrow and investigate the possible causes there. I am sure that this will void my warranty but it seems that I am left with no other alternative. The weather is too nice for my car to be stuck like this, and I still have had no reply from the builder.

Seems like there are more UNQUALIFIED people out there than QUALIFIED!!!

Just found out my newly purchased LS-5 coupe was self-destructing after a 1000 "FRESH RE-BUILD"!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I decided to give it a rest, and bought a zz454 straight from the general. If anyone wants a set of Edelbrock Aluminum heads and Air-Gap intake, let me know.

The only good thing is, it should be done by Monday!!!

I wish I could do that, pull this POS engine and install a fresh one from a reputable builder, but my budget is finally wearing thin. I probably have twice as much money into this car as it is worth. I hope I get to enjoy it sometime soon. If I take this engine apart and find too much wrong with it I'll end up buying a new engine anyway.
I could have made a down payment on a nice new house at this point.

Makes you want to go strangle some of these a$$h@les.

My patience is being tested, a raging, revengeful maniac like the incredible hulk wants to emerge and stomp all over people like this. If I could only go out for a spin with the T-Tops off (it's over 80* today). A ride like that makes ones troubles slip away (as long as the car runs right).

Man that is so true. Instead I want to let the court system have a shot at this liar. I don't know about the shop you used but this guy seems to play a game on the younger guys in the area. Build a motor then it fails and they return. Sadly I found this out after dealing with him. I think he was figuring the same for me except I know how to use measuring tools and would never have him assemble an engine. Once I checked the dimensions and confronted him he couldn't figure out lies fast enough to back his claims. He even said he could restamp an engine if he decked it, and that would be ok. For you guys here in CT I'll be glad to give full details in the future so no one else gets burned.

Default Update - BBB Involved

When I did not hear back from the engine builder for over a week regarding my request for repairs, I filed complaints with the Phoenix Better Business Bureau, The Az. Attorney Generals Office and the New Jersey Attorney Generals Office, as well as ebay and my credit card company.
The Phoenix BBB sent me a response stating that they would contact the engine builder.
NOW the engine builder is trying to be "The right kind of guy" all of a sudden, and doesn't understand why I am making a stink about this. NOW he wants me to start complying with the terms of the warranty.
Too late, I took the POS apart today, before I had a response from the engine builder. As far as I knew, the builder was never going to respond. I was tired of waiting on his sorry azz, so I moved ahead. The heads are going to be sent out and magnafluxed. They looked like crap, the coolant passages were full of what looked like welding slag. I'll try and post some pictures later.
