Default RPO codes

Where do I need to look for the RPO codes on a 73 coupe or better yet is there a web site I can put my vin number in and find out what options this car rolled out of the plant with? I'm trying to find out what's original and what's not. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

"the little black book" should have all of the RPO codes for that year.

there is no web site that i know of that will do what you ask. all of that stuff is not encoded in the VIN anyway. the only thing encoded in the VIN for options is your motor type and weather or not the car is a convertable or a coupe.

the only way to truely know what options are original to your car is by looking at the build sheet. if you still have yours, it will be glued to the top of the gas tank.

newer vetts can get a copy of the build sheet from GM, but they do not have reacords back to 73 any more, so if the sheet is not on your tank then you SOL.

i can see with an inspection mirror that the build sheet for my 73 vert is still on top of the gas tank. i can see that there are still some words on it, but can't see them well enough with the mirror. going to drop the tank some day to have a good look at that sheet.

check to see if your build sheet is still there.

hope this helps,

Mike.
