Thought I would introduce myself to the corvette family. I just inhearated a 1969 stingray from my uncle who has owned since 1970 he passed away the day after easter yes it was sad but he allways wanted me to have his beloved car, so under the circumstances I aquired the car which i am very proud of, so hey Im Dustin from Ohio and im sure i will have a ton of questions for you all and will post pics ASAP...Cheers.
P.S. for those that wonder...427 v8 big block t - tops side pipes 4 speed manual...pics soon to come.
Your uncle had very good taste in cars and must have had faith you would continue in his footsteps. Keep the faith. From my experience, you found the right group to help you. Welcome.
Welcome!!! Lot's of great (and a few jerks too) people here. Some will really go out of there way (thanks again Turtlevette) to help you out. Have fun with your new ride. I'm sure you are stoked to have it.
Welcome to the forums! I was recently in your situation too. My dad passed in Nov 05' and I got his 69' L71 (www.stingray.741.com) which he always wanted me to have. My condoloences to you, I can understand what you may be going through. I see your in dayton, i'm up here by lima. I'll drop you a PM with my # if ya ever feel like talking, bsing, or questions.
I see your a few years younger than me, not sure about you, but at first I didn't know very much about the vette and was rather confused as what to do next. So I've been spending A LOT of time learning all I can about the vette since I got it and still have a lot more to learn. You came to the right place (forum) to get good advice and info. You have any restoration work to do? Sounds like you have a L71 too, and from your profile you say its black also Would be awesome sight to see 2 black 69' Stingrays cruising side by side one of these days!!
Good luck with the new ride. If you have any questions, just ask, you will receive more responses than you probably are going to want. But they are all well intended!
Sorry about your uncle but congrats on the vette.Check out the great lakes section here on the forum. Some members are meeting near Dayton to run up to Buds Corvette show in next weekend.
Welcome...condolences on your Uncle. It is really nice to see that these cars are being handed down generations and not just being auctioned off!. Make sure you do your uncle proud. I plan to hand mine down to my daughter when I go.
Welcome, Some day my son will get my 78 SAA. I know he will take care of the car and pass it on someday to the person that will also take care of it. There was a thought process your Uncle went through before he decided to leave the Vett to you. Enjoy it, love it, and drive it like you stole it!!!
