I put spacers uner the front bolts. I understand you can go up to 1" without a problem. I have 3/4" and it changes the rake excellent. Make sure you use grade 8 bolts. My $0.02
Nope I just barely make it! It's close in my '69 b/c I put in Zo6 seats and they sit up .75" higher than the stock seats. no problems at all with the '70.
I'm 6-2, 250lbs. I fit fine in my 69 vert, but the tilt/tele is a must. I spent almost a year looking for that option, in addition to the power steering, power brakes, power windows, and 350/350 motor. No way I could get in and out with the standard wheel without a struggle.
I admit when I am driving I do feel a little tall-- like my head is sticking up higher than the windshield. I'm always thinking about that when I'm behind a truck-- that if something came flying it would hit the top of my head.
I wish the seats had a touch more rake like the later models-- as someone previously mentioned. I like the idea of the 14" steering wheel-- how hard is that to replace and any recommended models or brands?
Andy
The steering wheel literally takes 5 minutes to replace. Corvette central and mid america both have the same 14" wheels available for around $100. Very nice quality and finish to the wheels as well!
