Just thought I'd share this......
I had been going through loops trying to figure out why my charging system was acting strange and was convinced it was the voltage regulator in the alternator.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1382730

Tested at two different places with two different machines, both said it was good. Took it to a third and it tested bad. Problem solved!

I was also having a battery drain problem since well before my charging issues. I went through all the normal metering, fuse pulling, etc and could not isolate the problem.

Since I've put in the new alternator, the drain problem seems to have gone away. Hmmmmm, coincidence?

Nope...ALT has a continuous power source...its that red wire on the back of the housing that sparks everytime you bump it with a wrench, hammer or screwdriver blade and shorts out the diode-trio and/or the internal voltage regulator.

Which is why fuel leaks should be delt with from passenger side.
