Default HEI: Anyone have this unit?

I'd like to add HEI to my (stock) L48. Is this unit OK? It's about $100 less than the offerings from Summit, et. al:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MakeTrack=true

Furthermore, will I be able to retain this distributor when I (eventually) convert my motor to TPI?

I got mine from Jackson here on the forum. Don't know if he's still selling them. Haven't had time to install it yet though.

Default Save $135 + ... buy me a qt of jack

Save yourself some bucks$.
Star Performance has same TD HEI for $163. It's their P/N 9200TDR . It's in their latest catalog that expires 08/31/06.

It may be too big for some TPI setups ... it's the exact same dimensions as a stock coil-in-cap HEI ... except it has a mech tach drive. Maybe someone else w/ TPI & HEI exp will chime in. But the Star deal is much better than the ebay one.

Thanks Len ... but I'm not selling them anymore ... suggest above Star Performance for retail ... those who have legit business may try for wholesale thru Star's parent (Motorville).

I'm planning on installing a TPI set-up from an 80's Camaro...

You'll need a computer-controlled HEI when you go to TPI, or you won't have spark control from the computer, and will lose some of the benefit of TPI.

Great. Thanks for the info. I'll probably wait then and purchase everything at once.

Just got off the horn with John over at Star Performance. Had 2 in stock and one is on it's way to me now. Should be just the ticket for my freshly rebuilt 350 in my '69. $163 is a great price!
